Why We Loved NPI 2024

What a fantastic week Sability had in Halifax at the National Payroll Institute’s annual conference! The festivities kicked off on Tuesday evening and it was full speed ahead from there!

Tuesday evening was a networking event for all attendees to visit various vendor tables and gather stamps for a prize draw! Wednesday morning kicked off with Canada’s very own Arlene Dickenson’s keynote, (Dragon’s Den on the CBC) and what an inspirational story she told. Next stop was the Payroll Tech-Connect roundtable event where Kim Fiume covered Preparing for Year-End, and Marivic De Los Reyes spoke about Organizational Readiness for HCM Implementations. Later that afternoon Kim Fiume and NPI’s Steven Van Alstine delivered a great session on Unlimited Vacation Programs. We ended the evening with our Sability and UKG sponsored event at the Waterfront Warehouse.

Thursday morning started bright and early for the AGM and then moved right into the Industry Converge + Connect speed networking event. Sability had the pleasure of speaking with eight groups of 60 attendees about our products and services focusing on our Payroll Compliance reviews and overall compliance support services. Kathy Kruse handing out salt-water taffy was a hit! The speed networking event was a whirlwind, for sure, but it was awesome to meet so many of our attendees in a 2-hour window!

The day closed out with the Fun Night- the Kitchen Party! The music was on-point and those that were familiar with Atlantic Canada hospitality enjoyed listening to the bag piper, who played (are you ready for it?!) Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven and Bryan Adam’s Summer of 69 (just to name a couple)! It was definitely an evening of music that will be fondly remembered. The final day of the conference included our own Kim Fiume presenting to a very large group of attendees on conducting a payroll review. Who would have thought that payroll could also be funny and humorous? Kim certainly enlightened the group in this regard! Remember, Payroll can be sticky, so don’t hesitate to reach out to us for assistance with your compliance needs!
